Cargo Terminal 2 has begun to take shape! Back in early April
of this year, mechanical shovels and other heavy construction machinery
initiated site levelling operations which were finalized in mid-May.
Construction of the building itself then began in earnest. Progress
to date already provides onlookers with a reasonably accurate indication
of the size of the future facility. This fall, once the frame has
been completed, the building will be outfitted with the latest in
automated systems by Siemens. Siemens Automation & Drives (A&D)
is one of the world's leading suppliers of automation and drive systems,
and the company's services have been retained to install the new terminal's
automated cargo handling processes.
Equipped with the latest in cargo handling technology, the new cargo terminal
will feature 4 pallet pits and 12 loading docks, including two designed to provide
for the rapid processing of preconfigured pallets.
