In addition to ranking as a
top performance cargo airport, Vatry is also home to a
large-scale business park. Major European logistics operators
have been present onsite for several years now. Together,
they employ close to 1000 individuals and every day, an
average of 400 trucks transit through the facility. These
figures speak for themselves and augur well for continuing
development.
Hence the decision to build a logistics school which is
scheduled to open its doors in 2007.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry
for Châlons-en-Champagne,
Vitry-le-François
and Sainte-Ménéhould has acquired a parcel
of land adjacent to the Business
Centre which the Chamber owns and
operates, and where the Châlons-en-Champagne
Apprentice Training Centre (CFA)
is set to build a transport and logistics
school.
Measuring 1600 m2 in area, the building will a number
of classrooms and welcome students
enrolled in CAP (vocational training certificate) to Bac+3
level programs. Indeed, 85% of all recruiting in logistics
is concentrated at this level.
A lot next to the school will allow future truck drivers
and forklift operators to obtain their licences under the
watchful eyes of certified teaching staff and driving instructors.
The diversity of transport and logistics trades is certain
to prove of interest to increasing numbers of students
and young workers who, upon completion of training at the
school, will almost certainly present profiles consistent
with the needs of large companies, current and future,
operating onsite at Vatry.
